A visual approach in aviation is an IFR procedure where, with Air Traffic Control (ATC) authorization, an aircraft can proceed visually to land, clear of clouds, at its intended airport. It's essentially a streamlined version of an instrument approach, bypassing some of the formal procedures when weather conditions permit.
